Nearly 50 Years of New York Rangers Fandom

The recipient of a 2018 Client Champion Silver Award from Martindale-Hubbell, Marc Rovner is an East Rockaway, New York-based attorney who serves as director of business development with BETA Abstract. When not working, Marc Rovner enjoys attending New York Rangers games; as a season ticket holder, his connection with the team was profiled in a recent Madison Square Garden Company blog post.

Rovner's father became a Rangers season ticket holder nearly 50 years ago, and the East Rockaway attorney has continued the family tradition: he and his family can be found in section 113 at every home game. That section has become something of a second family, as Rovner and his four children have formed lifelong friendships with some of the individuals sitting nearby. They have even taken road trips with one of the other families in the section.

Rovner vividly remembers his first time attending a game at Madison Square Garden. It was February 8, 1970, and the Rangers scored a 5-1 victory over the Los Angeles Kings. His dad's favorite player, Eddie Giacomin, was the goaltender that night, and Donnie Marshall scored the first goal. His first memory of the Rangers is just as special as subsequent memories, like Pete Stemkowski's triple-overtime playoff goal in 1971, the Rangers' 1979 playoff victory over the rival New York Islanders, and the 1994 Stanley Cup run.

Overview of Title Insurance in Real Estate

A senior staff attorney at BETA Abstract LLC, Marc Rovner is a longtime resident of East Rockaway, New York, home of his beloved ice hockey team the New York Rangers. In addition to overseeing BETA’s business development in New York, New Jersey, and Florida, Marc Rovner of East Rockaway has taught a course on title insurance at Hofstra University.

In real estate, title insurance protects both the owner and any lenders against financial loss due to any faults in the title to a property. Unlike traditional insurance, which protects against future claims, title insurance covers claims for past errors and occurrences, including forgery, unpaid mortgages and taxes, omitted heirs, and limitations on the use of the property. Property owners and outright purchasers of property may elect to obtain a title insurance policy. However, property buyers who borrow money to make the purchase are required to secure title insurance to protect the lender from potential liability in case the seller fails to transfer the ownership rights. Title insurance requires a one-time payment, which is generally initiated in escrow after a purchase agreement has been completed.

Tourist Attractions in Barcelona

Attorney Marc Rovner is the general counsel and director of business development at BETA Abstract LLC, a company based in Oceanside, New York that provides real estate title insurance and related services. When he is not working or volunteering in the East Rockaway community, Marc Rovner enjoys traveling to international locations such as Barcelona, Spain.

One of the most popular tourist cities in the world, Barcelona holds numerous cultural, historical, and culinary attractions that draw millions of visitors each year. One of the most popular tourist destinations is Las Ramblas, a major boulevard that passes through the central part of the city.

Las Ramblas is lined with shops, restaurants, and theaters. Here are three can’t-miss attractions on the boulevard:

- Gran Teatre del Liceu. Opera aficionados can buy tickets to a performance at the Liceu, one of the most famous opera houses in the world. Since opening to great fanfare in 1847, the Las Ramblas theater has played host to singers such as Luciano Pavarotti and Maria Callas.

The NHL Career of Eddie Giacomin

A native of East Rockaway, New York, Marc Rovner is a senior staff attorney with BETA Abstract LLC and recently earned the Martindale-Hubbell Silver Client Champion Silver Award. A passionate fan of the New York Rangers, Marc Rovner was recently featured in an article on the Official Madison Square Garden Blog, where he discussed his family's shared fandom of the Rangers.

In 1970, Rovner’s father took him to his first-ever Rangers game, where Eddie Giacomin was the goaltender. A native of Sudbury, Ontario, Giacomin sustained second- and third-degree burns over much of his lower body as a teenager. While doctors told him to forget about a career in hockey, that only made him more determined. After playing in an industrial men's league for some time, he tried out for the National Hockey League's Detroit Red Wings in 1958, but soon after moved to Washington to play in the Eastern Hockey League. In 1965, while playing with the Providence Reds of the American Hockey League, he was acquired by the Rangers.

Giacomin got off to a difficult start in his NHL career, as he registered 3.66 goals against average in 36 games with the Rangers and was even sent back to the AHL for a two-week stint. However, he was much better the following season and continued to improve up to 1971, when he won the Vezina Trophy as the National Hockey League's top goaltender. Giacomin played with the Rangers until 1976, and spent the final three years of his career with the Red Wings.

The Difference between Titles and Deeds

East Rockaway, New York, attorney Marc Rovner has served as the director of business development and senior staff attorney for BETA Abstract LLC since 1998. As such, Marc Rovner of East Rockaway oversees the Legal Department for the title insurance company and is responsible for developing the business into offices in New Jersey, New York, and Florida.

Many people use “title” and “deed” interchangeably, but the terms refer to two separate legal concepts.

A deed is a type of legal document. It must be written and contain the title of the document, place, date, terms and conditions, jurisdiction, details of all parties involved, and signature of witnesses and parties. Deeds are used to confirm that a property title or other asset is being transferred from one person to another person. Since they are legal documents, the local assessor’s office or courthouse must record the deed, otherwise they are not fully binding.

A title, by contrast, is a legal term as opposed to a written document. It says that someone has a right to own and use the property in question. In many cases, a title is more powerful because it shows who is the true owner of a property. Due to this, many people purchase title insurance. Insurance protects property owners from financial loss in the event any title problems arise after property is purchased. Moreover, mortgage lenders or banks typically require some title insurance.

The Benefits of Title Insurance

An East Rockaway resident, Attorney Marc Rovner is responsible for business development across New York, New Jersey, and Florida and oversees the legal department at BETA Abstract, LLC. In addition to his responsibilities as an established attorney, Marc Rovner is a professional educator and teaches real estate and title insurance law-related continuing education courses.

Title insurance, a type of indemnity insurance, provides financial protection from losses that may result from flaws in a property’s title. It commonly comes in two primary forms: lender’s title insurance, which protects the lender, and owner’s title insurance, which protects the buyer in a real estate transaction.

While there are differences from one policy to another, the benefits of title insurance generally include coverage against claims arising from issues that could have been identified in public records and those arising from issues that could not be identified in public records. Other parties to real estate transactions benefit as well. Lenders benefit in that their mortgage investments are protected from loss due to title-related defects, while sellers enjoy greater marketability and protection from financial damage when selling homes with title insurance policies in place.

Puppy Love Pet Rescue in New Jersey - Adopt One, Save Two

An attorney from East Rockaway, New York, Marc Rovner serves as general counsel and managing director for Beta Abstract LLC. Outside of his work as an attorney, Marc Rovner is active in local animal rescue efforts. He and his daughters have helped save approximately 100 puppies through Puppy Love Pet Rescue, a completely volunteer-run animal rescue organization in New Jersey.

Puppy Love Pet Rescue provides foster care services to adoptable cats and dogs in order to save them from neglectful situations or prevent them from being euthanized in crowded municipal shelters. Animals in the care of Puppy Love foster parents receive veterinary care that includes immunizations and sterilization before being adopted by loving homes.

The volunteers behind Puppy Love Pet Rescue remind the public that for each pet rescued, the lives of two animals are saved. This is because in addition to the animal that is leaving the shelter, adopting a pet instead of buying one opens up space for another animal to be rescued. In this way, adopting one pet saves another from abuse or euthanasia.
