Nearly 50 Years of New York Rangers Fandom
The recipient of a 2018 Client Champion Silver Award from Martindale-Hubbell, Marc Rovner is an East Rockaway, New York-based attorney who serves as director of business development with BETA Abstract. When not working, Marc Rovner enjoys attending New York Rangers games; as a season ticket holder, his connection with the team was profiled in a recent Madison Square Garden Company blog post.
Rovner's father became a Rangers season ticket holder nearly 50 years ago, and the East Rockaway attorney has continued the family tradition: he and his family can be found in section 113 at every home game. That section has become something of a second family, as Rovner and his four children have formed lifelong friendships with some of the individuals sitting nearby. They have even taken road trips with one of the other families in the section.
Rovner vividly remembers his first time attending a game at Madison Square Garden. It was February 8, 1970, and the Rangers scored a 5-1 victory over the Los Angeles Kings. His dad's favorite player, Eddie Giacomin, was the goaltender that night, and Donnie Marshall scored the first goal. His first memory of the Rangers is just as special as subsequent memories, like Pete Stemkowski's triple-overtime playoff goal in 1971, the Rangers' 1979 playoff victory over the rival New York Islanders, and the 1994 Stanley Cup run.

Longtime Rangers Fan Featured on MSG Blog
Attorney Marc Rovner, a resident of East Rockaway, New York, oversees the legal department of BETA Abstract LLC as general counsel and director of business development. A lifelong ice hockey fan, Marc Rovner of East Rockaway has followed and attended every one of the New York Rangers’ home playoff games since 1978.
In an article posted on the official Madison Square Garden blog, Rovner is pictured wearing a New York Rangers blue home breakaway jersey and matching hat. He watches with intent as his favorite players skate across the ice during one of the 1,400 Rangers games he has attended since 1970.
Rovner recalls the day in February of 1970 when he and his father witnessed the Rangers win 5-1 over the LA Kings. His father, Errol, held season tickets and collected box scores and articles to share with the rest of the family. Rovner now holds four seats at the west end of the rink, continuing his family’s tradition. Rangers Fans Prepare for Another Season at the Garden

East Rockaway resident Marc Rovner has spent more than two decades as general counsel and director of business development at BETA Abstract, LLC, a multimillion-dollar title insurance company based in Oceanside. Outside of his professional activities, Attorney Marc Rovner supports East Rockaway-area community organizations and attends New York Rangers games as a season ticket holder.
Playing at Madison Square Garden, the New York Rangers have experienced a number of highs and lows over the course of nearly a century, from a seven-season playoff drought between 1997 and 2004 to four Stanley Cup wins and an additional seven Finals appearances, as recently as 2014.
In recent years, Madison Square Garden has changed its approach to season ticket sales, a move that has involved enticing new fans with added partial season options while at the same time selling a greater number of tickets to individual games. The venue will host the inaugural game of the Rangers’ 93rd season, which kicks off in a match against the Nashville Predators. Attorney Marc Rovner was featured in a recent MSG article about the passion of being a New York Rangers fan. It can be seen at: https://blog.msg.com/2018/04/06/https-blog-msg-com-2018-04-06-one-generation-to-the-next-a-tradition-lives-on/#single-article

Rangers Sign Defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk
A native of East Rockaway, New York, Marc Rovner serves as a senior staff attorney for the multi-million dollar insurance company BETA Abstract, LLC. When he isn't working as an attorney for the firm, Marc Rovner enjoys attending New York Rangers games.
The Rangers have reached the National Hockey League (NHL) playoffs in 11 of the past 12 seasons, but have failed to win the Stanley Cup during that time. Last season, the team lost in the second round of the playoffs to the Ottawa Senators. In an effort to improve its chances at winning its first Stanley Cup since 1994, the Rangers made a splash in free agency by signing highly-coveted defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk to a four-year contract with an average annual salary of $6.65 million.
Expected to join Ryan McDonagh on the Rangers' top defense pairing, Shattenkirk gives the Rangers an element of offense from the blue line. The 28-year-old recorded a combined 56 points in 80 games between the St. Louis Blues and Washington Capitals in 2016-17. He has 298 points through 490 career games and has recorded at least 25 power-play points in each of the previous four seasons.
